Welcome to Sovereign Grace Biblical Counseling. If you’ve found us, you’ve discovered a place where hope and healing meet through the transformative power of God’s Word.

Founded in 2025, Sovereign Grace Biblical Counseling was established on the unwavering belief that Scripture contains the very words, counsel, and comfort of God Himself. We rely completely on the sufficiency of Scripture to counsel and train biblical counselors.

Our foundation rests on two cornerstone truths:

Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that “the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Second Timothy 3:16-17 declares that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Jon Rissmiller serves as the director of Sovereign Grace Biblical Counseling. His personal journey of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ has given him unique insight into the needs of fellow believers, along with an unwavering commitment to Scripture-based counsel for those who are hurting and struggling.

Jon has been providing Biblical counseling for over 20 years but officially he was certified as an ACBC Biblical Counselor in 2025. He has a passion for discipling people, especially men, toward a deeper walk with Jesus Christ.

Jon has served in pastoral ministry in local churches in VA and NC for nearly 24 years. Since 2019 he and his wife Tammie have been serving as missionaries with Global Outreach International, providing missionary care (Pastoral Care) for missionaries around the world. Jon and Tammie have been married since 1994, have three wonderful sons, 3 daughter-in-laws, and 4 grandchildren. They currently reside in NorthEast North Carolina and travel around the world visiting missionaries as needed.

As our ministry expands to meet the significant need within the church and missionary communities, Jon is carefully selecting gifted men and women with strong backgrounds in discipleship and biblical knowledge. Our team consists of certified biblical counselors through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).
